Introduced in the early 1960s, the Rolex reference 6238 is the last Rolex chronograph before the Cosmograph Daytona, and collectors know it simply as the "Pre-Daytona". Its 36mm Oyster case in stainless steel houses the manually wound Valjoux 72B calibre, with the tachymeter scale printed on the dial rather than on the bezel. This example presents the purest configuration: a black dial with tritium luminous markers that have aged into a warm, even patina. Offered in excellent condition on a steel bracelet, it is a rare opportunity to own the bridge between Rolex's early chronographs and the most sought-after sports watch of all.
